MR. TOSIN AKANDE – DIRECTOR, HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENT (HSE) COMPLIANCE Tosin Akande is an accomplished executive with over 20 years of experience across construction, facility management, manufacturing, property development, and consulting, with a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance. He is a graduate of economics from Lagos State University, with a degree in environmental science (in view) from the National Open University of Nigeria, and holds globally recognized certifications, including Lead Auditor QMS ISO 9001 and the NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) in Occupational Health and Safety. His professional journey reflects a unique blend of technical expertise, regulatory compliance, and leadership in high-risk project environments. As Director of HSE Compliance at Hanson Dredging and Marine Services Limited, Tosin is responsible for ensuring that all dredging, canalization, reclamation, and marine operations are executed in full alignment with international safety standards and environmental sustainability practices. His role includes developing and implementing safety management systems, monitoring risk, enforcing regulatory standards, and promoting a strong safety culture across all projects. With his background in facility management and construction, he brings a structured approach to risk mitigation, environmental protection, and worker welfare. Over the years, Tosin has played key roles in major infrastructure and environmental projects, including the dredging and canalization of Odo-Ogun (Lagos State Government project), the construction of central sewage systems, and land reclamation projects such as the Lagos Badagry Japaul project and the ADAX Petroleum Dockyard dredging project (Hanson Dredging and Marine Services Ltd). His experience also spans large-scale road dualization projects, facility management contracts for multinationals (7Up Plc, Secure ID Ltd), and other complex infrastructure works. These achievements underscore his ability to balance project execution with safety, compliance, and environmental stewardship. Mr. Tosin is also a chartered mediator and a member of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution of Nigeria, demonstrating his skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement.
